Hi Dan I’m going to buy the 2nd edition of your fingerstile 101, that i can use along with the main course I’ve purchased. Thanks again Dan I’m looking forward to starting fingerstile. Dennis
Hi Dan, I’ve purchased some courses from you but I thought I would also purchase this 7day course to get me started before I start on the main courses. Many thanks Dennis.
Hi Dennis, thanks, I hope you enjoy it. We will get you there. Stick with it. Any questions, let me know. Cheers. 🙂
Hi Dan thanks for the course.I have other of your courses already. I just wanted something to focus me on the basics to correct my bad habits. Just done day one. A good reminder about minimal pressure. One of my issues applying minimal pressure is when playing more complex chords having to ‘stretch’ my stubby fingers while clearing the other strings which can cause ‘buzzing. Particularly a problem for me with fingerpicking. Anyway day one was encouraging and fun.
Hi Joe, pleased to hear it. To help with stretching when it comes to tricky chords, you can practice them with a capo on around fret 4 or 5. That will allow you to make minimum pressure a habit while negating the need to stretch as much. Then gradually move the capo down one fret at a time – e.g. fret 3, fret 2, fret 1, etc. I hope that helps and all the best! 🙂
I’m amazed at how little pressure it takes to play a clear note!
Great stuff, super pleased to hear it, Andy. Goal achieved with this lesson then! Keep up the good work and remind yourself of this key lesson often. 🙂
I completed day 1. I’ve been studying your Fingerstyle 101 2nd Edition program and learned the “minimum pressure required” awhile back. I’m 73 years old and started playing guitar about 2 years ago after starting on the ukulele. I have problems with my chord changes being slow due to finger dexterity problems and with transitioning between chords while incorporating fingerpicking patterns with proper timing. It’s been a slow process but I’m having fun and have some music theory knowledge including how chords are formed, how the major and minor scales work and can play the minor pentatonic and major scales… Read more »
Hi Thom, and welcome to the course. Glad to hear you have already been using MPR. Sounds like you have been doing really well and hopefully now you will be able to put it all together nicely. Many thanks! 🙂
I have just completed day 1!
I have been playing since I was 12 and now im in my 60’s but this was I must say a revelation no wonder my fingers have always been sore – Ive been pressing far to hard and in the wrong place as I always thought fingers were placed in the middle of the fret.
Thankyou
Looking forward to day 2 but Im going to practise this a while first
Hi Robert, that is amazing. Very well done and my pleasure. So many make this mistake and never realise it, so I’m super pleased you have nailed it. Now make this a habit and keep having fun! 🙂
Thanks Dan for the course, I think I probably have the other course on offer.
I really do like to go back to basics, so thanks again for this course.
Regards
John.
Hi John, glad to hear it. Yeah, recapping the basics often is really important so I hope you enjoy the course! 🙂
